FAQs

What’s your turnaround time?

My turnaround time is 1-3 days for projects near 2,000 words or less. Longer projects may take some more time or I’ll need another day or two if you send more than 2-3 projects at once, but typically my members receive their edited work within that 1-3 days. (Between you and me, sometimes as little as an hour.)

Is there a word limit?

No! Word-count based editing doesn’t work for content and copywriters.

For the amount of content or copy you write, it just doesn’t make sense and you end up feeling nickel and dimed, or like you have to constantly monitor your word count.

Or maybe you’ve worked with an editor or agency before and you didn’t get something edited because your word count plan didn’t cover it. Or you discovered at the end of the month that your word count stacked up a lot higher than you thought and your invoice was a bit of a shock.

This is what I never want my clients to feel when it comes to getting editing support, and it’s why I THROW WORD COUNT OUT THE WINDOW.

Here’s what two of my clients have to say (and how much they freakin’ love that there’s no word-count limit on our work together):

“You edited over 20,000 words in the span of five days and also helped me hit my major first of the month deadline not just on time, BUT TWO DAYS EARLY.

”The literal peace of mind that I could write at ~50% mental capacity (at least that's what it felt like) and you had my back and would make it sound better was worth every freaking penny and then some.”

“Finding Brooke was a game-changer for my business. I had always wanted to hire an editor, but it didn't make sense cost-wise. But the way Brooke offers her service is PERFECT for small business owners like me. I know I can send her a piece to edit, and she'll get to it quickly. I also appreciate her insights beyond the technical side of editing. She looks for ways to make my content better. It's been a value-add for me and my clients.”

With me, you know I’ve got you covered and I’m ready to get my eyes on your content or copy. And you know exactly what your investment in editing is going to be every.single.month. (no surprises!)

One more for the road💃🏻:

“I love this model. I always wanted to hire an editor but the per-word pricing didn’t work for me. So glad to have found Brooke.”

What if there’s another content or copy silo I create more than the four categories offered?

We can custom create support that suits your needs. The primary four are offered because they’re typically the largest silos my clients need support in. But I’m happy to support you with another type of content or copy if it’s important to your business!

Do you use style guides?

Yes! An integral part of my editing process is keeping client style guides.

Knowing your voice, preferences, and writing style is key to being a good editor, and truly ensuring that the work I do on your content and copy is aligned with the way you yourself write.

Keeping track of details on a style guide, dedicated to you alone, helps me make sure I’m following all of your preferences and upholding consistency throughout every project.

Some of the details I stow away:

⚪ Style manual of choice (i.e. CMoS, AP, etc.)

⚪ Voice and tone

⚪ Reading level

⚪ Rules you prefer to break (or -isms you’re ok with)

⚪ Your fervor for the Oxford Comma (or your detestation)

⚪ Writing quirks you wish for me to keep a close eye on (e.g. dropping words, overuse of ‘that’)

⚪ Helpful client and TA information, with links to client websites or past work

⚪ Prompts or requests from your clients (e.g. a word limit we need to be aware of)

Do you offer a sample edit?

Yes, I do! I offer a sample edit of 1,000 words or less. Just reach out if you’d like one! This can be a great way to get a feel for my editing.

Will I be seeing you in the margins?

See you in the margins🥂
